Best Time To Visit Rajasthan

The best time to visit Rajasthan will largely depend on what you intend to do while there. While the summers in Rajasthan are rather hot, they may not be the best time to visit because the temperatures may interfere with your sightseeing plans, the winters are generally considered to be the best season to visit Rajasthan. It all depends on what you intend to do and how well you can withstand the heat. Knowing what the temperature and weather are like throughout the year can help you plan your itinerary more effectively.

Rajasthan at various seasons of the year

Because of its location and geography, the state of Rajasthan has three seasons: winter, monsoon, and summer.

Winters - The winters are regarded as the best time to visit Rajasthan. While other parts of India experience extreme temperature drops and chilly weather, the princely state enjoys mild weather, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 30°C for the most part. Winters in Rajasthan typically begin in October and last until January. While the days are pleasant and sunny, the nights can be quite chilly at this time of year.

Another important factor that contributes to winter being the best time to visit Rajasthan is the plethora of colorful and exciting fairs and festivals that take place in various cities. During the winter season, some of the state's most popular festivals, such as the Jaipur Literature Festival, Udaipur World Music Festival, Camel Fair, and Pushkar Fair, are held.

So, visiting Rajasthan during the winter will allow you to get a closer look at the culture of Rajasthan.

Monsoons: Rainfall in Rajasthan is primarily caused by the South-West Monsoon and Western Disturbances. The Aravalli range, which runs from Guru Shikhar in the southwest to Khetri in the northeast, divides Rajasthan in a 60:40 ratio. As a result, while 60% of the state is located to the northwest of the range, 40% is located to the southeast.

The mountain range, which runs parallel to the incoming southwest monsoon winds, fails to intercept them, resulting in a dry and sandy northwestern region. The eastern and south-eastern parts of Rajasthan, on the other hand, are both better watered and more fertile. During the monsoon season, Rajasthan receives 100-165 mm of rain. The presence of impervious rocks in the western parts of Rajasthan can also cause flooding at times.

If you visit Rajasthan during the monsoon season, you will be greeted by lush greenery, rainbows, and dancing peacocks. You'll also get to see some cultural extravaganzas as different parts of the state prepare for the Teej festival during the monsoon season.

Summers: Summers in Rajasthan are typically hot and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 48 degrees Celsius. The scorching heat and high temperatures make life difficult for those who live here. Temperatures in the Thar Desert are typically the highest. Summers in Rajasthan, however, are pleasant, especially in places like Mount Abu, Ranakpur, and Kumbhalgarh, which are popular with tourists during this season.

This may not be the best time to visit Rajasthan if you are sensitive to extreme weather conditions. However, if you plan on visiting Rajasthan during this time of year, make sure to bring sunscreen and comfortable, light cotton clothing with you. If you wear full-sleeved clothing, you will be less likely to get sunburned.
